Error Code 8001050F

For those of you who read my blog to find out about new Brett Favre news I am sorry to say that this blog is not going to talk about Brett. However, I will tell you that the only new news about him is that he was recently on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
I recently bought a new video game for my Playstation 3. I was very excited to play my new game but was very frustrated when I turned on my PS3. I put in my game, but to my surprise the screen went black and said error code 8001050F. This error code kept coming up every time I tried to play my new game (For those of you who are wondering what game, it was Legends of Wrestle Mania). I then decided that this error code must have something to do with the new game so I decided to try another game. To add to my frustration, the error code came up again. At this point I was beginning to panic. I could not believe that a machine that was so expensive could be not working. After I tried everything I could possibly think of I turned to the media to try to figure out the problem. Once again I was very surprised at what I saw when I searched for this error code. I found that I was not the only one with this terrible problem. There were various videos on You Tube about the error code 8001050F. Many people were not sure what the problem was. Many people were trying to show how to fix the problem, and others were just showing how mad they were that these machines were malfunctioning. I was very happy when I found a video that showed that this problem was not my machines' fault, but the actual Playstation network. I then decided to check on the PS3 website to see what they had to say. I found a blog that talked about this error code. The blog advised people to shut their PS3 off until the problem was fixed. I kept my PS3 off for about a day. I did not want to turn on my PS3 before this problem was fixed so I kept up to date on the situation over the internet. I finally found what I had been looking for when I found a question and answer page that said it was ok to turn my PS3 on again.
Even though this is far from a major crisis, it is a good example of how the media can be used to keep up to date with the latest issues. I know I was very pleased that there was so much media coverage of this event. It helped me know what was going on, and how to deal with the problem. I bet Sony would not be saying the same thing, because I am sure they are getting a lot of negative media attention from this event.

  1. I thought that your blog was really interesting. Whenever I am having a problem with my computer I Google how to fix it and I can usually come up the answer just by looking at the answers other people have posted and it usually makes me feel a little when I find videos, like you did, that show me how to fix the problem because then I know there is a solution out there and I am not the only one dealing with this problem. I am glad that were able to get your problem with your PS3 fixed though and I’m sure you were really relieved also.

  2. This is interesting because i do agree with you on how the media can be useful with the latest issues for our pieces of technology such as your ps3 or a phone or whatever else. I use my computer everyday to figure out a lot of things, without our computers and the internet, i do not think, a lot of things could be possible in a lot of peoples everyday lives. Because we rely so much on technology, it would be hard not to have it. I feel that being able to go on the internet to find a legit answer for something is great!

  3. His caught my eye because you said you were going to talk about Brett Favre. I personally am not a Packer's, Jet's, or Falcon's. But I do like the Vikings its to bad there season ended short this year. But I do agree with you on how the media can be useful with technology like the PS3 or the new phones. Computers have taken over a lot of peoples lives. Its a good thing there are very informational things on the internet today so students like you and me can keep learning.

  4. Haha Brett Farve back in the media spotlight. I don't know if you caught this past Thursday Jay Leno show when Farve was on. Hysterically funniest thing I've seen in awhile. Now to the actual error code, could this be the possible red ring of death finally hitting the ps3 in an error code? I do not own either a xbox of ps3 and I plan to stick with my Wii for a long time.

  5. I own a PS3 but I never use it. Now if I get that error code I will know what to do atleast. The Internet is a very easy way to find solutions for almost anything. I have Googled pretty much anything I am having a problem with and it has seemed to work very well so far atleast. Having solutions on the Internet will also save alot of headaches for people at Sony because this way they wont be getting as many phone calls about how to fix the the error and any other malfuntions with the PS3. The internet is a very valuable resource for many many people. This is a great example of how media affects us all of the time.

  6. I also own a PS3, and I thought it was crazy all the comotion that was going on about it. Apparently it couldn't handle the transition of February to March. The slim edition of the PS3 was not affected by this change, but the Older version was. I have the older one, and luckily mine was not turned on when the transition occured, so I was safe. I know that the problem is now fixed, and the worst damage that the glitch could have done is make people lose some of their trophies, which are not a big deal. I feel that Sony handled this very well, and I am still a very proud owner of my PS3.
